Welcome to the Olive & Rust story, where dreams truly come to life when you step out in faith! After over 30 years away, my husband and I returned to our home state of North Dakota in the middle of 2020—right in the height of the pandemic. It may sound crazy, but it's our reality!
Throughout those 30 years, we lived across the United States while my husband served in the Navy. We raised two amazing boys and forged countless lifelong friendships. North Dakota always held a special place in our hearts, compelling us to return whenever possible to reconnect with family and share with our sons the rich heritage of their roots—showing them that the magic of North Dakota isn’t just in the wind!
Fulfilling a long-held dream, I've poured my passion into creating Olive & Rust, a unique home décor and furniture store that has been in the making for the past 20 years. It was only in the last few years that I decided to take the plunge into small business ownership, and what better place than Fargo to do it?
Olive & Rust is more than a store; it’s a gathering place. It’s a collection of items that I love and that bring me joy, featuring styles and pieces from places we’ve lived and visited. You'll find Nordic influences from our trips to Copenhagen to visit our youngest son and his family, as well as pieces that show off my love for the Pacific Northwest, where our eldest son and his wife resides.
As soon as you walk through the doors, you’ll see that I love bold colors and statement pieces. My style is eclectic, blending modern pieces with a vintage vibe to create spaces that feel personal and timeless. Whether it’s for an apartment, a home, or just a special nook, I believe your space should reflect you and include items you love. I enjoy keeping up with new trends and colors, but more than anything, I cherish helping each customer find that special piece that completes the "you" factor in their space.
Welcome to Olive & Rust, where your space is a reflection of your story, and where every visit is more than just shopping—it's an experience.
